Why OEKO-TEX®?
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 standardı, 1990'lı yılların başında tüketicilerin ve kamu genelinde sağlıklı tekstil ürünlere yönelik ihtiyaçları karşılamak amacıyla geliştirilmiştir. Basında yer alan "Zehirli Tekstiller" gibi olumsuz manşet haberler o zamanlar çok yaygındı ve tekstil imalatında kullanılan kimyasalları genel anlamda olumsuz ve sağlığa zararlı nitelikte yansıtıyordu.
However, our demands for modern textile products cannot be met without using certain chemicals. Fashionable colors, easy maintenance, longevity and many other features in textile products are demanded today and are partially indispensable according to the purpose of use (eg workwear).
Until the implementation of the OEKO-TEX® Standards 100 standard, there was neither a Product Label that could evaluate the quality of textile quality for human ecology for consumers, nor a standard criterion for companies operating in the Textile and Clothing Sector that made it possible to evaluate potential harmful substances in textile products in practice. For this reason, the Austrian textile research institute Österreichische Textil-Forschungsinstitut (ÖTI) and the German research institute Forschungsinstitut Hohenstein developed the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 standard based on the test standards in their hands.
